Accountants in Albury and Wodonga who tell you the number before 30 June, not after
Your tax bill is decided on 30 June. Most business owners do not hear a figure until October, when nothing can be done about it. We do the planning meeting in March, while there is still a quarter left to act.

Most accountants are fine at the tax. The complaint is never about the tax.
- You never hear from them. No news between lodgements, and you are the one chasing.
- The invoice turns up without warning. Work gets done and billed before anyone mentions it.
- You are told after the money has gone. The position arrives at year end, when nothing can be done.
- You leave the meeting with a folder and no idea what to do next. Plenty was said. None of it was written down.
On that last one, here is what we actually do. Most of our meetings are recorded. You get the notes and a list of action items afterwards, with who is doing what. So when you are back on site three weeks later and cannot remember what was decided, it is written down and you can go and read it.
Start where you actually are.
Most of the Albury and Wodonga businesses we work with came to us needing one thing and stayed for something bigger.

Trades and transport
Roofers, sparkies, builders, owner drivers. BAS, TPAR, vehicles and the tax planning that happens before June, not after it.

Small business generally
Sole trader through to a company with staff. Accounts, structure, payroll and someone to ring when a decision needs making.

Just a tax return
Done properly, without a lecture. Plenty of our business clients started exactly here and we are glad they did.
The advisory is the actual job. The tax is the part that has to be right.
Every accountant says they do advisory. Most of them mean they will mention something at the annual meeting. Here is what it means here, and you can hold us to all of it.
March, every year
Tax planning while there is still a quarter left to change the outcome. A meeting in March can move your position. A meeting in October can only report it.
Numbers during the year, not after it
Knowing your margin in March is useful. Knowing it in October is history.
Structure revisited as you grow
Sole trader to company, and whether a trust is worth the paperwork yet. Set once and forgotten is how people end up in the wrong entity for five years.
The BAS number before it is due
Not the week it is due. Cashflow is a planning problem, and it stops being one when you can see it coming.
If all you want is the return lodged and nothing else, that is fine and we will do it. But it is not the part we are good at, and it is not why most people stay.
50 five star reviews from business owners in Albury and Wodonga.
I’ve been with Business Edge for over a year and couldn’t be happier with their service. Their Proactive tax planning meeting in March meant that we were able to put things in place before the EOFY that benefited our business greatly.
Mish is great, actually explains things properly when I’ve got questions instead of just brushing me off.
Needed to have various Financial Statements produced asap, and Clayton was on to it straight away. Can’t thank him enough for the speed and excellent service he provided.
Small enough that you get a person. Connected enough that you get an answer.
You deal with someone who knows your file, not whoever picks up. Clayton took the Albury practice over in 2013, Celeste works with owners on the business itself, and Mish is the accountant most clients deal with day to day.
When something sits outside what we do, we do not guess at it. Lawyers, lenders, financial advisers, specialists interstate and offshore when a client needs one. Twelve years on the border builds a list, and using it is faster than us learning on your money.
Three of our four most recent Google reviews name Mish. That is what having a person looks like.

Questions we get asked about changing accountants in Albury
How hard is it to change accountants?
Easier than people expect, and mostly our job. We write to your current accountant with an ethical clearance letter, collect the working papers, and pick up from where they finished so you are not paying twice for the same year. Usually a couple of weeks, and it does not have to wait for the end of a financial year.
I’m a few quarters behind. Is that too far gone?
No, and it is the most common reason people call. What matters is how far back it goes, because that decides what has to be lodged and what can be arranged with the ATO. There is no lecture in the first meeting.
Do you work with businesses outside Albury and Wodonga?
Yes. We have clients around Holbrook and across the border, and plenty of the work happens by phone and video. The office is in Albury and you are welcome in it.
What happens in the free business review?
About 45 minutes on where the business is up to and what is actually bothering you. Recorded if you want it, and you get the notes. You leave with a view on what needs fixing first, whether or not you engage us.
Tell us where you are up to.
However far behind that is. The first conversation costs nothing and there is no lecture in it.
